What's yours?

Today is the last day of 2012.  It seems the internet is filled with new year's resolutions.  Sure, it's fun to think that I will all of the sudden quit all of my bad eating habits and magically get in my running rhythm again.  I know where it will lead though.  There is one resolution I don't mind setting myself, though.  To be healthier, physically and mentally.  I just need to decide how I am going to do it.  At church yesterday, the pastor was talking about how we are all "busy".  That is for sure the case in this household.  I thought how great the timing is for his sermon.  He challenged all of us to take time away from everything.  Make it a goal to take time out for ourselves, and of course to find time to get closer to God.  Another goal that I am determined to hit is this:

I know, it is so cliche' to set a new year's resolution that I will run a half-marathon.  It is what it is.  What is your new year's resolution for 2013???

It's a start...

So I know that there is nothing that can cause my extra weight to magically disappear. I found this on Pinterest (of course) and my awesome hubby made it for me before bed. I am drinking my first cup now and it's not bad at all. I have found myself drinking coke's like water so I have decided that I need to squash that and drink only water....
Skinny water: Ingredients: 3 lemons sliced 1/2 cucumber A bunch of mint leaves (per gallon of water) Preparation: 1. Slice lemons and cucumbers, wash mint leaves and place in a gallon of water. 2. Let it sit over night in the fridge so the water can soak up all the flavors. Drink up and enjoy the next day! Tip: It adds a nice flavor to your water and can give you a flat belly! The lemon and water act as a natural detox that helps flush the impurities out of your system. Enjoy!

"Baby weight"

It has only been a year since my son was born, but I find myself still saying I need to lose the "baby weight".  Baby weight is such a lame excuse as I think about it.  Here are some questions that come to mind as I think about the term "baby weight":

  1. Is there still a baby in there?
  2. Can I still call all my extra weight "baby weight" a year later?
  3. If it were baby weight still, wouldn't it have melted away by now?

I think it is pretty safe to say that I am not carrying baby weight anymore.  I admit, I had fun eating.... a lot.  From this point on, I will not call my extra weight, baby weight any longer.  Boo! It was an easy excuse while it lasted.

To a new year!

Hi, my name is Erin.  I am a 29 year old, married mother of 2 very high spirited kiddos.  Logan "Lolo" is 3 and a half and Ashton just turned 1. I am a special education teacher, a graduate student, a photographer, a mother, and a wife.  I love to run.  I use the term "love" very loosely at this moment.  I ran a lot in middle and high school.  I enjoy running long distances.  A few years ago, I became hooked running half-marathons and 5K's.  Anyways, I am a pretty boring person.  I have become caught in a very bad routine.  I work, go to school, come home, eat, kinda clean, then go to sleep only to repeat the same thing the next day.  I occasionally fit in a run, usually a 3 miler, on Sunday. Yikes! I have recently lost about 22 pounds.  I am ready to lost 22+ more! Even though I don't expect this blog to reach many, I am hoping to find motivation and encourage a few along the way.  Here's to a new year!

I am not brave enough to post a current picture so I am posting a picture of my adorable babies!
